2021 Global Investor Statement to Governments on the Climate Crisis
01.11.2021
Jyske Capital has recently become a signatory and an advocate for the 2021 Global Investor Statement to Governments on the Climate Crisis. The Investor Agenda is a common leadership agenda and an alliance between global investors on the climate crisis, which is focused on accelerating investor action for a net-zero emissions economy. It is currently supported by 733 investors managing over USD 52 trillion in assets, about 50% of Global AUM.
With the current climate crisis, investors and governments have the power and responsibility to raise ambition and accelerate actions to tackle the current situation. To achieve the common goal, it is pivotal that there is an international cooperation to reduce the global net-CO2 emissions with 45% by 2030, with a dramatic reduction of all greenhouse gas emissions essential for reaching net-zero CO2 by 2050. The key to this lies in ensuring government leaders too support sustainable economic recovery efforts following the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a signatory of the Investor Agenda, we support the initiative to encourage all countries to significantly strengthen their NDCs (Nationally Determined Contributions) for 2030, to ensure that we reach the goal of net-zero by 2050. Notwithstanding that all countries differentiate in terms of their capabilities and responsibilities, those who set ambitious targets to reach net-zero will have a greater possibility of competitive advantage.
