Policy for responsible and sustainable investment

Jyske Bank Group’s policy for responsible and sustainable investment

At the Jyske Bank Group, we consider it our primary responsibility, in the best way possible, to optimise the return for our investors. We assume corporate social responsibility in relation to its investments, which means that environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues are taken into consideration in the investment decision process.

The basis of the Jyske Bank Group’s work with responsible investment is UN PRI’s Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). UN PRI is a joint declaration on taking corporate social responsibility in connection with investments and compliance with six central principles for responsible investments.

How we integrate sustainability research into investments

Sustainability Research covers the sourcing, evaluation and implementation of factors that helps portfolio managers to analyse companies’ involvement in risk factors that may materially impact returns in a negative fashion. These data sources cover environmental, social or employee matters as well as matters regarding respect for human rights, anti-corruption and antibribery.

We consider the impacts on these factors at the individual strategy level, with the Jyske Capital ESG Team acting as an oversight and expert resource for portfolio managers. Each investment team is responsible for establishing knowledge and resource sharing with the ESG Team. Portfolio managers are therefore directly accountable for assessing sustainability risks within their strategies.

Within the overall framework, we are further able to tailor implementation of sustainability to fit a client’s individual needs. Such solutions are based on each strategy, and client mandate.

The Jyske Capital ESG team

Our ESG Team consists of three full-time professionals who are working as an integrated department within Jyske Capital Investment & Sustainability.

The team is responsible for maintaining quantitative sustainability data from internal and third party sources, and for supporting qualitative sustainability research. They are responsible for Jyske Capital’s active ownership efforts as described above. They further support monitoring of ESG objectives within investment strategies and assist as experts with client-specific ESG requirements.

The team works closely with portfolio managers to support their data analysis on ESG issues, for example in company research, decision-making support, and ESG-related risk management.
